COLD WAR 3.0 - Tero Lindberg & TURKU JAZZ OCHESTRA

Trumpeter Tero Lindberg and the Turku Jazz Orchestra are set to release their eagerly anticipated album in October 2023, marking the orchestra's third full-length record. This collaboration promises to be a delightful fusion of Lindberg's trumpet virtuosity and the orchestra's remarkable musical prowess, making it a must-listen for big band funk enthusiasts and music lovers alike.

The album draws inspiration from the dramatic twists of our era. This cinematic album follows a fictional agent's adventures in crisis zones across the globe, capturing the essence of a new Cold War, where disinformation, pandemics, democratic fragility, and the threat of violent conflicts are once again part of our daily reality. The music seamlessly blends various genres, from jazz to rhythmic styles, spanning from swing to rock, portraying the struggle for space between democracies and authoritarian regimes.

"The compositions for the album were written six months before Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022," Lindberg explains. "The songs became quite cinematic in my vision, and the stories may not necessarily be based on specific real events. Interestingly, reality has later eerily echoed and commented on art in a horrifying way.”

The golden trumpet strikes again

My first solo album The Return of the Golden Trumpet is finally getting a sequel. The popularity with which the first album was received inspired me to continue the tale of the Golden Trumpet, which led to the idea of making this album. Instrumental music is clearly in demand even today, when it is done with passion and quality. The Golden Trumpet Strikes Again contains more favourite golden oldies, such as trumpet classics Gonna Fly Now, Speak Softly Love and Granada, as well as two of my own compositions.


The Golden Trumpet Strikes Again was begun in April and completed in September of 2018 at Mimix Studio in Espoo. The album was recorded, mixed and mastered by Jyri Sariola. I arranged and produced the album myself. Performing with me on the album are a slew of leading Finnish musicians totalling 34 in number. Most of the arrangements have been written for larger ensembles, varying from a small string ensemble to a full-scale pops orchestra. Thank you once again to all the musicians – you’re the best. I hope you greatly enjoy each moment spent with The Golden Trumpet.

The return of the Golden Trumpet

Tero Lindberg’s first solo album “THE RETURN OF THE GOLDEN TRUMPET” was released on Friday 6 November 2015. LP is also available!
Instrumental music was highly popular in the 1950s-1980s. Abroad, such artists as Herb Albert, Horst Fischer, Eddie Calvert and Harry James, and in Finland Ossi Runne and Danish-born Jörgen Petersen made fine careers playing popular trumpet music. Today, this once very popular type of music has in practice almost vanished. The aim of this recording is to revive this forgotten genre and the magnificent numbers it produced. The album is at the same time my first solo one and a tribute to the old trumpet masters and their music.

The Return of the Golden Trumpet was recorded and mixed in summer 2015 by Jyri Sariola at the Mimix Studio in Espoo. The arrangements are mine or orchestrated from originals, and I was the producer. I wanted to make an album with a large orchestra, as was the custom in the good old days, and it was therefore fantastic to have all these tremendous musical colleagues and friends helping me to make it. Seldom is so much talent and expertise gathered under the same roof as it was in making this disc. Once again, my thanks to all the musicians.
